Mako Meet
This weekend is another swim
meet for several members of our team. We are still waiting on our
exact warmup times for ABLY. Once we receive them, they will be
posted to the home page of our website (and will probably be
e-mailed to you by your individual age group coach). The psych
sheet and timeline are on the home page of our website. Please use
these as a guide but know that any timeline is subject to change.
This meet will be very crowded. Remember no coolers can be brought
into the facility. Parking will be at a premium! Remember your
quarters or park in the parking garage next to the pool. Per the
meet information, the parking services will offer a package for up
to 10 “in and outs” for $8 starting on Friday
afternoon. These vouchers may be purchased at the Pro Shop. Our
swimmers will be given their bag tags this week by their individual
age group coach. PLEASE DO NOT LOSE THESE! If, however, they do,
all they will need to do is check-in at the athlete check-in every
time they need to go on the pool deck. For those new to this
facility, no parents are allowed on deck! The only people on deck
are the swimmers, coaches and officials. Coaches need their
credentials this weekend! (Bring your Red Cross Card Certifications
just in case they are needed). Swimmers: no food on deck. Shoes
must be worn to go upstairs when visiting your parents. Please see
note below regarding the toy drive they are having at this
meet.
This meet is named the
“Holiday Spirit Classic” with the intent of reminding
all participants to think about the spirit of giving during the
holiday season. In promoting this spirit, each swimmer is asked to
bring one unwrapped, new toy, which will be collected at the meet
in marked barrels and given to a less fortunate child via the Toys
for Tots program. The Makos Team asks that all coaches communicate
this request to all swimmers and parents in their program with the
goal of collecting hundreds of toys at this meet which will later
be wrapped and distributed to the under privileged children in the
area. Thanks, in advance, for your help in this worthwhile
cause. Over the past several years, swimmers have made this
effort very successful.
NashvilleMusicCityInvitational Results
Great job to all the athletes
who competed this past weekend at this highly competitive meet. Of
the 30 teams who participated, we finished 8th! We had
several LTB’s from our ABLY swimmers. As always, the coaches
were very happy with the manner in which our athletes handled
themselves not only on the bus and at the meet but also at the
hotel. Hopefully all of them managed to get up for school even
though they did not arrive back at our YMCA until
1:30am!!
Registration Deadlines
Approaching
The deadline to register your
swimmer for the PCY Invitational is
Dec. 8th! If you
have not already done so, please take care of this. If you are in
doubt as to whether your child should be swimming in this meet,
please contact their individual age group coach.
Swim Team
Payments
This is just a reminder that
all swim team fees are due in full by Dec. 15th! All
those with outstanding balances have been e-mailed. If there is a
question as to what you owe, please just call the front desk and
they can look this up on their billing system.
Swim-a-thon money
raised
To date, our team has raised
close to $50,000 towards our annual swim-a-thon! Once all monies
have been received (everyone should have completed their
fundraising requirement of either $300 or $500 depending on number
of athletes you have registered this year), we will submit our
dollar amount to USA swimming. Last year we were 6th in
the country!
HolidaySchedule
Our holiday schedule is on our
website under PROGRAMS/COMPETITIVE SWIMMING. This begins Dec.
23rd.
Pre Comp
Our next session of Pre-Comp
starts Jan. 4th and runs to Mar. 13th. Cost
is $200. Please register your child at the front desk. All swimmers
new to Pre-Comp must first be screened by a coach. Call the swim
team office for a screening appt. at 474-1400.
News from the Kapostasy
family
All families were e-mailed the
most recent information regarding the Kapostasy’s and their
life in Australia. A copy of the e-mail has been posted to the back
bulletin board (Blue Group Section).
Comanche Troop Receives Donations
Per Vicki Polanco, her nephew, Jake Hill, received our 15
boxes of donations! He is going to hand the 120 pillowcases out
right before Christmas. Thank you so much for all your support on
making this such a successful project.
